Free cancelled event ticket refund letter template

Use this letter when an organiser or ticket seller has cancelled, moved or materially changed an event but has not returned the money you paid.

Who this letter is for

Claim back ticket, booking and compulsory fees after a concert, festival or event is cancelled. It is written in the formal register companies, landlords and card issuers expect, and it records the facts, the remedy sought and the deadline in a way that supports any later escalation to an ombudsman or the courts.

How to use this template

  1. 1Save the booking and cancellation notice.
  2. 2List the ticket price and fees separately.
  3. 3Explain any material date or venue change.
  4. 4Request repayment to the original method.
  5. 5Keep proof and consider a card dispute if refused.

What to include before you send it

  • Attach the booking confirmation and cancellation or rescheduling notice.
  • Separate the ticket price, booking fees and any other amounts claimed.
  • Explain why a changed date or venue is materially different if the event was not cancelled outright.

The rights you are relying on

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the event organiser's terms apply in the UK; local consumer laws and card-dispute rules may apply elsewhere.
